Indiana Jones Jacket Review
Hi, there. Not so long ago, I started hoarding outerwear that was worn on-screen, specifically, the movies. It’s been an alphabetized journey for me & I’m currently on ‘I’ for Indiana Jones. Being a die-hard Indy fan I quickly got on the internet, and ordered a 1x Steele & Jones Cazadora 36 Jacket that was on-stock. I’ve tried one too many renowned leather jacket brands who claim to craft ‘authentic Indy Jackets’ but since the Westwood Co. was the official entity that jointly worked with Paramount Pictures and LucasFilms, this was a no-brainer.
The jacket was the replica worn by the hero himself, but not the exact thing because, well, unlike Harrison Ford’s 6’ 1” profile, I’m a 5’ 7” short-king with a 38 chest and 32 waist, unlike the legend who rocked the outerwear with a 40 chest & 34 waist. For authenticity, I would’ve gotten the latter measurements but I don’t like wrestling my profile into a jacket, and regretting that it doesn’t hold the collectibility value anymore.
Anyway, while waiting for the jacket to arrive on a business day, I had plenty of time to crunch and did thorough research on what was gonna show up on the door-step (I know I should have done my homework before emptying my wallet but let’s ignore this 40-year hiatus).
For the record, this was a Westwood Co. lambskin leather jacket. Originally (and by that, I mean as made for the screen), this outerwear was not made to age but went on to be worn by Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones, for the next three movies including The Temple of Doom, The Last Crusade, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull that came out in 2008.
However, the jacket arrived, and I was stoked the second I looked at it. The chocolaty ribby lambskin texture made it look like it was straight out of the movie, and I already felt like chasing a N*zi convoy across Egypt but my gut told me that it might be too good to be true, and this might turn into a snake-pit scene from the movie – BUT IT DIDN’T! IT WAS THE MOST WEAR-WORTHY JACKET THAT I GOT IN MY COLLECTION, AND I WEAR IT TIME AFTER TIME.
